Blast Zone Home Use Inflatables comply with new ASTM Safety Standards

Blast Zone, the nation's Leading Manufacturer of Inflatable Toys for Home Use and Commercial Applications is pleased to announce it meets and exceeds new ASTM manufacturing guidelines.

Over the last few years, focus has increased on product safety.   In 2008, The Consumer Product Safety Commission drafted the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), aimed at improving the safety of millions of products, especially those used by children.   Blast Zone Brand Inflatables have always undergone rigorous engineering and safety testing, and have complied with the CPSIA since its inception.

Now, another agency, the ASTM has released Safety Standard, "F2729 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Constant Air Inflatable Play Devices for Home Use,"  and Blast Zone has further refined the safety and reliability of its renowned Inflatable line, showcased at BlastZone.com.  These voluntary standards include guidelines for: the design and features of the electric blower; requirements for safety enclosures; platform height/impact guidelines; instructional requirements; and more.

While ASTM provides safety and manufacturing guidelines for thousands of categories worldwide,  this new ASTM standard is the first to directly address inflatable toys designed specifically for Home Use (Guidelines already exist for Commercial Inflatables).

ASTM standards require substantial dedication to engineering and product development and Blast Zone is committed to these additional safety guidelines.  Because Blast Zone has always emphasized safety in the product development process, only a few minor changes were required.  The changes were primarily to products in cases where they are not specifically required,   for example side wall height was increased for smaller water slides where it was determined safety could be further improved, even though not required by the guidelines.

As always, Blast Zone Inflatables comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission rules for contaminants (including lead and phthalates) and safety guidelines.

* Blast Zone Inflatables continue to comply with the broad ASTM Standard F963, specification for toy safety.

"ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards.
Today, some 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence. "
